Founded by Gilbert Coleman in San Francisco. Small on purpose, careful with our clients time.
Decent IT Service was founded in 2011 by Gilbert Coleman, after years of watching local business owners get sold technology they did not need from companies that did not pick up the phone. The idea was simple: be the IT person you'd recommend to your sister-in-law.
Today the team is still small β eleven technicians, two account managers, and one office cat named Chowder β and we plan to keep it that way. We'd rather know our clients well than chase the next big logo.
We work primarily with professional services firms (architects, lawyers, dental practices, accountants), small retailers, and non-profits across the San Francisco Bay Area.
If you call during business hours, a person answers. Not a phone tree, not a ticketing form first.
If a 12-year-old cannot follow our explanation, we have not explained it well enough.
We do not accept commission from hardware or software vendors. We recommend what we'd buy ourselves.
You own your network. We give you the passwords, the diagrams, and the runbooks. No hostage situations.
No multi-year contracts. We earn your business every month or you can leave with 30 days' notice.
We deliberately turn down work when we are at capacity. Better to be excellent for 320 clients than mediocre for 800.
